Nigeria records 938 new COVID-19 cases

BREAKING: NCDC confirms 114 new cases of COVID-19 as toll hits 1095

As the battle against COVID-19 becomes tougher, Nigeria has recorded 938 new cases of the deadly virus in 19 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update on Thursday February 11.

The health agency gave a breakdown of the new cases as follows; Lagos-236, FCT-123, Plateau-92, Benue-63, Katsina-53, Oyo-50, Osun-45, Kaduna-43, Edo-33, Ogun-31, Ebonyi-31, Akwa Ibom-30, Kano-26, Gombe-18, Bauchi-16, Delta-12, Imo-11, Cross River-10, Niger-5.

There are now 143,516 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1,710 deaths have been recorded. 118,012 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.

In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that surprisingly, a 101-year-old grandmother who contacted COVID-19 has been discharged from Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, Osun State after she recovered from the deadly virus.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the grandma was on admission in a private hospital for treatment before the medical personnel of the hospital noticed she was showing some symptoms of COVID-19 like the acute onset of cough breathlessness, fever and malaria before she was transferred to OAUTHC.

This was contained in a statement released by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Ile-Ife, Prof Victor Adetiloye, on Thursday to newsmen.
