Europe’s top 7 leagues at the weekend experienced the lethal touch of Nigerian players who scored goals for their respective clubsides. While some fell to defeats to their opponents, others helped their team gain maximum 3 points. These are 6 Nigerian players who scored for their club sides at the weekend.

In-form striker, Terem Moffi, scored a brace to lift Lorient past Brest in the French Ligue 1 match.

Nigeria forward Moffi cancelled out Brest’s opening goal with a shot from the right side of the attack. Eight minutes after the restart, Lorient were ahead as Moffi scored his second goal of the game. That was his seventh goal of a stellar campaign so far, making him the joint highest goal-scorer in the league, alongside PSG stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Terem Moffi’s performance didn’t go unnoticed as he made the prestigious Ligue 1 Team of the Week by the influential L’Equipe. This was the second time this season; he was first selected for the Team of the Week in Week 5.

Calvin Bassey scored his maiden Dutch Eredivisie goal in Ajax’s 4-2 win at FC Volendam on Saturday to go top of the league, two points ahead of AZ Alkmaar who plays Utrecht on Sunday.

In the Italian Serie A, Nigerian attacker, Ademola Lookman scored a goal to help his team, Atlanta claim a 2-2 draw against Isaac Success’ Udinese. Lookman scored his third goal of the season in the 36th minute to put Atalanta ahead. Lookman scored his goal with his only shot on target against Udinese, while also playing two (2) key passes, one (1) successful cross and one (1) successful dribble.

The talented player who can play anywhere across the attack has now scored in back to back games for his new team. Unbeaten so far this season, Atlanta currently sits second on the Serie A table, mounting a good competition against Napoli which parades Victor Osimhen.

The Italian Serie A witnessed the goal scoring touch of another Nigerian player at the weekend. Nigerian Striker, Cyriel Dessers netted his first goal for promoted team, Cremonese against Napoli. In a 4-1 loss.

Dessers gave Cremonese the lead on Sunday, but table toppers Napoli fought back to win 4-1 to deny the home team a famous victory. The bulky striker has promised more goals in Serie A for US Cremonese. Cremonese will hope for more goals by the Super Eagles so that they escape relegation. They are second from bottom on the table with four points.

Everton’s most in-form player, Alex Iwobi scored his first goal of the season as his team, Everton lost 2-1 to Manchester United in a Premier League match at home on Sunday.

The Nigerian scored just five minutes into the game, when he broke through the defence, firing the ball inside the right post. On the stands watching the game was his uncle and Super Eagles legend, Jay Jay Okocha who would have been delighted with his nephew’s overall impact on the game.

Emmanuel Dennis grabs the first Nottingham Forest goal against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa in the English Premier League . Dennis scored with a header from a free kick in the 15th minute to get home team Forest off to a great start.

It was his third goal in as many matches against Villa after he scored home and away against the same team for Watford last season.
