Idem mysterious palm tree where politicians, businessmen visit to get spiritual powers

For the people of Ezza South local government area of Ebonyi state, Ide mysterious palm tree is indeed full of powers, mysteries and magic.

Located in the remote Idem community, Ezza South local government area of the state, Idem mysterious palm tree has become a source of powers to many residents, and even citizens of the state who seek spiritual solution to their problems.

According to one of the residents of the community, Joseph Mgbada who spoke to our reporter, Idem mysterious has been as old as five decades.

According to Mr. Mgbada, ” I grew up to start hearing about Idem mysterious palm tree. The said tree has four branches. It is located inside our village in Idem here.”

Narrating further, Mr. Mgbada told WITHIN NIGERIA that ” the palm tree has so many mysterious beliefs and stories surrounding it.

“First it is believed that any person who eat the fruit will never die either by bullet wounds or motor accident.

“Secondly, it is also believed that the tree protects whoever comes to spend some minutes to worship it.”

Asked if he has eaten the palm fruit of the mysterious Idem palm tree, Mr. Mgbada explained that ” I have not eaten the fruit in my life but I know a man who has eaten it.

” However, when Fulani herdsmen invaded our community here and shot many farmers dead, that man was not affected. In fact, he did not incur any bullet wound and people attributed his safety to the Idem mysterious palm tree.”

However, another resident of the community, Alex Oguta told WITHIN NIGERIA that it is usually a centre of worship and power during political season by politicians.

“The Idem mysterious palm tree is usually being visited by politicians during political period to seek power. Again, some business men equally come here to seek for power for their business.”

Asked if the mysterious palm tree has a priest that mediates between the worshippers and the palm tree, Mr. Oguta stated that ” there is nothing like Chief priest there. They came here to worship the palm tree and get powers.”

On what is so special about the tree that people should worship it, Mr. Oguta explained that “you can’t pick the fruits to extract palm oil. Again, the palm tree had four branches but one died, remaining three branches now.

“Added to this, the surrounding where the palm tree is situated is mysteriously hot even during harmattan and cold season. So, with this, people see it that the palm tree is mysterious and so it is.

“Again, some people discovered that each time they come to the Idem mysterious palm tree to seek for favour, they usually get such favours. With this, they see the palm tree as very mysterious with spiritual powers.”

Asked what sort of powers or help people come to seek at Idem mysterious palm tree, Mr. Oguta, explained that “they come to Idem mysterious palm tree for political success and powers. Some businessmen come here to seek for powers to prosper in their business.

“Again, some women come here to seek for the fruit of the womb. One funny thing is that many of these people who come here seeking for these favours, do so secretly because they are also Christians who are members of different church denominations.”

However, when our reporter sought to speak to the eldest man in the community for his comment, he was said to be sick and so was not favourably disposed to talk on the matter.
