For Pastor Uche Nwachinemelu, Sunday February 18, 2024 remains an unforgettable day in his life.
According to the senior pastor of Watchman Catholic Charismatic Church, Enugu state, it was indeed a terrible incident he would never wish to experience.
However, narrating the horrible incident to WITHIN NIGERIA in an exclusive chat with our reporter, Pastor Nwachinemelu explained that he just came back from Nsukka metropolis to his Parish at Ugbaike, Igbo-Eze North local government area of Enugu state when the incident occurred.
How it happened
My church called me at Nsukka metropolis for some missionary work. I finished the work and came back on Friday morning. I was taking some rest when I heard some sort of bang outside the building. I saw some people living around my house coming out to see what was happening. When I looked outside, I saw some smoke on my car tyre. I was sort of confused. When I came out, I saw that some hoodlums have taken some fuel from my motorbike, sprayed on the tyre and set it ablaze. I equally noticed that they have also made away with the motorbike. But, some poles away, they parked the bike and ran away. I don’t know what pursued them. However, with the help of people who came to see what was happening, we were able to quench the burning fire. By and large, the fire was able to damage the car tyre, dashboard and some other parts of the car.
Do I suspect anybody?
No.no. no I am not suspecting anybody for now. All I know is that whoever did this will never go unpunished by God. I leave everything in the hands of God. There was a man that was having some quarrels with my wife whom I see as a drinker, but I cannot take him to be the suspect.
Complaint to the police
I have reported the incident to the area command, Orba, Udenu local government area. They told me that they will carry out an investigation and if they find out anything, they will surely let me know.
However, till this moment, I have not heard anything from them.
What do you call these evil doers? Hired assassins or what?
I can tell you that it is God that confused these evil doers. They came to perpetrate evil but God just confused them and they did what they did.
They might have come for somebody’s life but God just confused them.
Advice to the church members
My advice to my church members is that is they should always put all their trust in God Almighty. Look at what happened.
If not for God, these evil doers would have succeeded in killing me or any of my family members. I don’t know how they planned it but look at how God confused them and they ended up burning down my car and not getting me or any of my family members hurt.
In any case, when our reporter called the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the state police command, Mr. Ndukwe Daniel for confirmation, he could not pick his call.
But, a senior police officer at Orba Area Command told WITHIN NIGERIA that the police is still investigating the matter.
However, WITHIN NIGERIA gathered Igbo-Eze North local government area has been hot bed for criminal activities in recent years.
Further checks revealed that many rural dwellers in the council area have lost their life to criminal elements in the area, even as the members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and its security outfit, Eastern Security Network, ESN have been fingered as the suspects, accusations they have continued to deny.
WITHIN NIGERIA equally gathered that the council area was behind the strengthening of Monday sit-at-home order in the state as no shop was allowed by the enforcers to open on Mondays.
It was also gathered that many businesses in the area have collapsed even as many people have run away from the council area.
