In the heart of the city of mile 50, Abakiliki, Ebonyi state, the unthinkable is said to be happening in the house of God.
The General Overseer of Champions of the Truth Church Mile 50, Abakiliki was accused of taking advantage of one young girl in the area for seven consecutive days with a promise to correct her sickle cell condition from SS to AA.
Though the incident happened in 2021, it was revealed that the sickle cell didn’t transform as promised by the cleric, leading to heavy criticism and several petitions against the self-acclaimed man of God.
WITHIN NIGERIA reporter gathered that it was not only the young girl that has allegedly seen the sexual exploitation in the hands of Bishop Ndibueze Onyagoziri Okorie.
Our checks revealed that those have AS genotype were equally exploited by the Bishop to change their genotype, a promise that never materialized.
Our source who spoke under anonymity revealed that at one time or the other, some young ladies lose their life in the cause of having an encounter with the Bishop.
“Last year, about two persons got pregnant from the ministry which was suspected to be as a result of sexual escapade of the Bishop. Again this year, one lady nearly lost her life in the hands of the Bishop while trying to fulfill the promises she made to him by sleeping with him for several consecutive days,” the source revealed.
Petitions against the Bishop
However, as the bishop continued to ply his illegal trade with impunity, one resident by name Odinaka Emmanuel Eze petitioned both the state governor and the police over the sacrilegious act.
The letter, which was made available to WITHIN NIGERIA, read thus.
“Bishop Sam Onyeagoziri Ndubueze Okorie, the General Overseer of Champions of the Truth Church, Mile 50 Abakiliki took advantage of the young girl by name Euphemia Ede from Ezza South and initially “gbenshed” her in the year 2021 for 7 days non-stop with a promise that her sickle cell condition will be transformed to AA genotype through sex.
“The sickle cell didn’t transform to the AA genotype, as it is a clear false supposition that never existed anywhere.
“The girl and her family’s naivety, timidity and lack of knowledge grew to comfort as she kept living with him from 2021 till date, became the secretary of his church, enjoyed being trained in school by him and may have even continued enjoying being ‘gbenshed’ by him until the recent incident that led to the leak of her nudes. Morality left them just as the bishop who has been a man of immorality. You can’t tell me the girl never had opportunities to leave or sneak out of the house and report to police or the family can’t her out of this long ago, but she chose to stay, maybe due to the mere funding of her school and other things she enjoyed.”.
The petition stated that “A girl that speaks boldly and fluently like this can’t claim she’s unaware of what she was doing or handicapped in any form to end the nonsense long ago, even if he took advantage of her quest for transformation of her sickle cell condition.
“The whole thing should be investigated by the Ebonyi State Police Command, while appropriate punishment should be served to whoever goes against the law, especially in the aspects of deception, defiling aminor and leaking of nudes. If it’s a false narrative, the girl should be prosecuted for criminal libel.
“This should serve as a lesson to others.
“I wish to plead with present Ebonyi government under Gov. Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to assist in ensuring that the society is sanitised by the prosecution of law offenders.”
Police arrest Bishop Okorie
Following this development, on October 1, 2025, the Ebonyi State Police Command arrested Bishop Ndibueze Onyagoziri Okorie, for allegedly having a marathon sex with a 22-year-old female sickle cell patient in the State.
In any case, while confirming the arrest to the newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Joshua Ukandu, explained that the suspect was already in their custody even as the investigation was ongoing on the matter.
In his confirmation words, “Yes, the Bishop is with us here at the police headquarters, Abakaliki. I don’t have any other information; it is under investigation.
“On Wednesday 1st October, he was arrested by our men and brought to the state police command over the act,” the Police spokesman said.
WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that in a viral video on social media, the victim said told the world that she started living with the cleric due to her health condition and the promise by the bishop to correct it.
She noted that the spiritual healing failed to solve her problem as her case worsened. She alleged that the Bishop had assured her that a seven-day sex with him was all she needed for her genotype to change from SS to AA.
She stated that her desperation was fueled by her quest for survival after the sickness has taken the lives of her three other siblings.
She further explained that after the seven-day sexual intercourse with the general overseer, her health issues became compounded and she raised the alarm and informed her sister about her predicament, leading to the exposure of the Bishop.
According to her, her elder sister stepped in when she discovered that the so-called divine treatment was becoming too far a reality.
She revealed that the Bishop has on several occasions threatened to upload pictures of their sexual activities if she leaves him. According to her, she later left the cleric and went back to her village only to see her nude pictures with the cleric on social media, eliciting reactions.
In the meantime, Bishop Onyeagoziri has denied having any sexual intercourse with the victim,
According to him, his phone was stolen and those who stole the phone used Artificial Intelligence to post his nudity with that of the girl.
