Slimcase, born Oluwafemi Oladapo, is a Nigerian street-pop artist, songwriter, actor, and energetic hype man who rose to prominence in 2017–2018 for popularizing the ‘Shaku Shaku’ dance wave. Known for street anthems like Azaman, he remains a vibrant figure in Nigeria’s pop culture, recently drawing attention after a viral moment involving a luxury SUV gift from D’banj.
Early Life & Education

Slimcase, born Oluwafemi Oladapo Oke-Eko on August 22, 1982, hails from Ikorodu, Lagos State, where he was also raised. Growing up in a modest environment, he often describes himself as being “raised by the streets.”
Before fame, he worked various factory jobs for about a decade, including stints in a dry gin company and at Dangote Group, earning low wages while saving toward his music ambitions.
He completed his primary and secondary education in Lagos, obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate and WASSCE, but did not pursue tertiary education, choosing instead to focus on entertainment. He started as a comedian and MC before fully transitioning into music.
Career
Slimcase began his journey in entertainment as a comedian and MC, performing at small gatherings before transitioning into music. In 2011, he recorded his first vocals with producer Beat by Sars at a modest studio near University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka. Initially a rapper, he drew inspiration from global acts like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Dr. Dre.
His breakthrough came during the 2017–2018 “Shaku Shaku” wave, where he gained massive attention with “Oshozondi” and contributions to Idowest’s “Shepeteri”, alongside hits like Olamide’s “Wo” and Small Doctor’s “Penalty”. Positioning himself as an “industry hype man with hit songs” and “not a musician”, Slimcase became a key driver of street-pop culture.
Between 2018 and 2019, he rose to mainstream prominence, collaborating with top artists including Wizkid (Gucci Snake), D’banj (Issa Banger), Yemi Alade (Shakpati), and Tiwa Savage on “Diet” alongside Reminisce. His 2019 single “Azaman”, featuring 2Baba and Peruzzi, became one of his biggest records.
In recent years (2024–2026), while still releasing music like “Oblee” (Remix) and “Ko Skary Mo”, Slimcase has shifted focus toward Nollywood. He has appeared in projects such as “Omo Ghetto: The Saga” and “Shanty Town”, working alongside stars like Iyabo Ojo, Odunlade Adekola, and Femi Adebayo. He has also hinted at stepping back from music to focus more on acting, citing stronger reception in the film industry.
Beyond performing, he runs the Slim K Show, expanding into content creation and digital entertainment, while continuing to represent and amplify Nigerian street culture.

Controversies

Slimcase has been involved in several viral moments and criticisms over the years:
- D’banj SUV Gift Controversy (2026): In January 2026, Slimcase went viral after receiving a luxury SUV reportedly worth ₦65 million from D’banj. While many praised the gesture as a reward for loyalty, particularly his support for the C.R.E.A.M Platform, some critics questioned his financial standing and argued the car was a costly “liability” compared to cash. His emotional reaction while receiving the car also drew mixed responses, with supporters calling it genuine gratitude and others describing it as over-the-top.

Slimcase | Wizkid - Tattoo Controversy: Slimcase stirred major online debate in August 2024 after unveiling a “PRAY” neck tattoo. It is an exact replica of one previously worn by Wizkid. The tattoo, boldly placed on the side of his neck, was described by Slimcase as a tribute and “token of appreciation” to the superstar. The move divided public opinion. While fans within Wizkid FC praised it as loyalty, critics accused him of “clout chasing” and lacking originality, especially given his status as an established artist. The controversy deepened due to his existing tattoos, including a portrait of Wizkid and “Big Wiz” inked on his chest. Slimcase, however, remained firm, defending his actions by crediting Wizkid for changing his life in 2017 with a single tweet and ₦30 million, insisting the tattoos represent gratitude rather than imitation.
- LAWMA Video Controversy (2025): Faced backlash from Lagos State Waste Management Authority for using official uniforms and a waste truck in a music video without approval. He later apologised and took down the video.
- Prostrating for Burna Boy (2025): Drew criticism after a viral video showed him prostrating to Burna Boy and not doing same for D’banj. He defended the act, saying he was honouring “Grammy grace,” not the individual.
- Afrobeats Criticism (2025): Sparked debate after stating Afrobeats was becoming oversaturated, urging artists to release fewer but higher-quality songs.
- Mohbad Tribute Backlash (2023–2024): Following the death of Mohbad, he was among artists criticised by some fans for perceived delayed or “performative” responses despite joining calls for justice.
- Soundcity MVP Interview (2019): He was trolled after expressing his desire to feature global stars like Cardi B, Rihanna, and Migos.
- “Saint Sami Ganja” Mystery: For a long time, he kept fans guessing the meaning of his popular slang before revealing it represents balance—Heaven (Saint), Hell (Ganja), and the in-between (Sami).
Personal Life

As of early 2026, Slimcase is not married and keeps his personal life largely private. He has described his relationship status as “complicated,” noting he is not yet ready for marriage as he focuses on his music career and financial growth. While there are reports suggesting he has children, he has not publicly confirmed a spouse or long-term partner.
