Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tega Dominic has revealed why she would not recommend the show to anyone close to her.
In a recent interview, the reality star shared her reasons for making such a statement, especially one that gave her a platform. While BBNaija remains a major platform for fame and opportunities, Tega’s story highlights the difficult side of life after the spotlight.
Below is who Tega Dominic is and the three reasons she says the show isn’t for everyone during an interview with Draft Africa.
Who Is Tega Dominic?

Tega Dominic is a Nigerian reality TV star who became popular after appearing on Big Brother Naija Season 6 in 2021.
During her time in the house, she was involved in a widely talked-about situation with fellow housemate Boma Akpore. At the time, she said she was married, but later explained at the reunion that she had been separated since 2020 and used that image as part of her game strategy.
Outside reality TV, Tega is an actress and businesswoman. She owns a brand called Studded Caps Only and has also worked with the Actors Guild of Nigeria as a special adviser on sexual harassment.
She is from Cross River State and survived a serious car accident in 2021, shortly after leaving the show.
1. She Battled Anxiety After the Show
Tega revealed that she developed anxiety after leaving the BBNaija house, and it worsened over time.
According to her, the condition later grew into social anxiety, making everyday activities difficult. She said she struggled to go out alone and found it hard to function comfortably in public spaces.
At some point, even simple human interactions became challenging, showing how deeply the experience affected her mental health. In her words:
“I won’t tell anybody close to me to go for Big Brother…
“After Big Brother, I used to have anxiety. It became worse. I had social anxiety, I can’t go to spaces if I’m alone.”
2. Life Became Overwhelming in Social Spaces

Beyond anxiety, Tega explained that adjusting to normal life after the show was not easy.
She disclosed that being around people became overwhelming, especially in unfamiliar environments. Routine things like attending events or moving freely in public spaces required extra effort and emotional strength.
She also noted a personal change in how she relates physically with others because even basic interactions became uncomfortable. Tega said that while she can give hugs, receiving them became uncomfortable after the show. She shared:
“I can give you hugs, but I can’t receive hugs.”
3. Only the Mentally Strong Should Consider It
Based on her experience, Tega stressed that not everyone is built for the reality show.
She warned that the emotional pressure, sudden fame, and intense environment can take a serious toll on contestants. For her, mental strength is key, and without it, the experience can become overwhelming. She warned:
“If you’re not mentally strong, don’t go for Big Brother.”
That is why she insists she would not recommend the show to anyone close to her unless they are fully prepared.
Conclusion

Tega’s experience offers a different perspective on BBNaija that goes beyond the fame, endorsements, and social media buzz.
While the show continues to change lives, her story is a reminder that the journey comes with real emotional costs, and not everyone may be ready for what happens after the cameras stop rolling.
