The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its final list of candidates for the Lagos State House of Assembly elections ahead of the 2027 general polls, leaving several incumbent lawmakers without return tickets.
The development marks a major political shift within the Lagos Assembly as 12 serving lawmakers failed to secure the party’s nomination for another term in office.
Among those affected are principal officers of the House as well as lawmakers representing key constituencies across different parts of Lagos State.
The final list, signed by the Lagos APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, confirmed the exclusion of several prominent members of the Assembly from the party’s lineup for the next election cycle.
Political observers note that the outcome reflects ongoing internal realignments and changing calculations within the ruling party ahead of 2027.
The affected lawmakers include the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Noheem Adams, who represents Eti-Osa Constituency I.
The Chief Whip, Hon. Fatai Mojeed, also failed to retain the APC ticket for another term in the Assembly.
Another principal officer affected by the party’s decision is the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Setonji David.
Actor-turned-politician, Desmond Elliot, who represents Surulere Constituency I, also did not make the party’s final list.
Other lawmakers excluded from the APC ticket list include Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye of Ikorodu Constituency I and Hon. Lanre Afini of Lagos Island Constituency I.
Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency I, also lost the opportunity to return to the Assembly under the APC platform.
The list further showed that Hon. Obafemi Saheed of Kosofe Constituency II was unable to secure renomination by the party.
Hon. Bonu Solomon, representing Badagry Constituency II, was equally excluded from the final list released by the APC leadership.
In Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II, Hon. Emmanuel Oloto also failed to obtain the party’s ticket for the next legislative election.
Hon. Jubreel Abdulkareem of Agege Constituency II was among the lawmakers who did not scale through the party’s selection process.
The list also excluded Hon. Apata Samuel, who currently represents Somolu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The outcome means the affected lawmakers will not contest the 2027 Assembly elections under the APC except there are future changes within the party’s arrangements.
It also leaves open the possibility of fresh political negotiations, internal appeals, or alternative political paths for some of the affected legislators ahead of the polls.
The release of the final list has continued to generate reactions within political circles in Lagos as party members and stakeholders assess the implications for the Assembly’s future composition.
