The 2026/27 Premier League season has barely found its rhythm, yet Matchweek 4 already looks like one to clear your weekend for. Seven games open the round on Saturday, September 12, two more follow on Sunday, and Monday night closes things out with a fixture that could shake up the bottom half of the table. Sitting right in the middle of it all is the Manchester Derby, with Manchester United hosting Manchester City at Old Trafford in a game neither side can really afford to lose.

Three rounds in, the table is still finding its shape, but a few patterns have already emerged. Arsenal and Manchester City are the only teams to have strung together three straight wins. Fulham, by contrast, have lost all three of their opening matches and go into this weekend still searching for their first points of the campaign. Bruno Fernandes, Erling Haaland, and Alexander Isak share the early Golden Boot picture with three goals apiece, and all three are involved in Matchweek 4 action. That alone tells you this round has some quality attached to it.

Here’s everything you need to know about the fixtures, the kick-off times, and the matches worth building your weekend around.

Full Matchweek 4 Fixture List

All kick-off times below are UK local time (BST). Fixtures can occasionally shift for broadcast reasons, so it’s worth double-checking closer to kick-off if you’re planning to catch a game live.

Day Date Kick-Off (UK) Fixture Venue
Saturday 12 September 15:00 AFC Bournemouth vs Brentford Vitality Stadium
Saturday 12 September 15:00 Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest Villa Park
Saturday 12 September 15:00 Chelsea vs Hull City Stamford Bridge
Saturday 12 September 15:00 Crystal Palace vs Ipswich Town Selhurst Park
Saturday 12 September 15:00 Liverpool vs Fulham Anfield
Saturday 12 September 17:30 Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Saturday 12 September 20:00 Sunderland vs Arsenal Stadium of Light
Sunday 13 September 14:00 Coventry City vs Brighton & Hove Albion Coventry Building Society Arena
Sunday 13 September 16:30 Manchester United vs Manchester City Old Trafford
Monday 14 September 20:00 Leeds United vs Newcastle United Elland Road

That’s ten games across three days, and while the headline act is obvious, there’s genuine intrigue running through nearly every fixture on the card.

Saturday’s Early Kick-Offs Set the Tone

Five matches kick off simultaneously at 3pm UK time, and Liverpool’s home date with Fulham carries the most weight among them. Arne Slot’s side head into the weekend full of confidence after a midweek cup win, and Alexander Isak’s early-season scoring form has given them a focal point up front that looked missing at times last year. Fulham arrive at Anfield with zero points from three games, and Marco Silva will be desperate for a response before the “crisis” talk gets any louder.

At Villa Park, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest meet in a match between two clubs still chasing their first win of the season, though both have shown flashes of improvement as the weeks have gone on. Forest’s Nicolas Jackson has caught the eye in Europe recently and will fancy his chances of adding to his tally against a Villa defence still finding its feet.

Bournemouth host Brentford at the Vitality knowing they’ve been vulnerable from set pieces this season, and Keith Andrews’ Brentford side, unbeaten so far, will look to make them pay from exactly that kind of situation. Chelsea’s clash with newly promoted Hull City comes on the back of a thumping midweek cup win, and Enzo Maresca’s side will want the same attacking intent on show at Stamford Bridge. Crystal Palace against Ipswich Town rounds out the early slate, with Oliver Glasner’s side favourites to extend their solid recent form against a newly promoted side still adjusting to the pace of the top flight.

Tottenham vs Everton and the Sunderland Test for Arsenal

The 5:30pm kick-off pits Tottenham Hotspur against Everton in a fixture both managers will view as an opportunity rather than a formality. Spurs remain without a league goal through three matches, an alarming statistic for a squad with this much attacking talent, and pressure is quietly building around the club as a result. Everton haven’t found much rhythm either, so this one has the feel of a game that could go either way depending on which side blinks first.

Saturday’s late kick-off sends champions Arsenal to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland, freshly returned to the Premier League and playing with the kind of energy that has made them awkward opponents at home. Arsenal drew here last season courtesy of a stoppage-time Brian Brobbey equaliser, and Mikel Arteta will be wary of a repeat, especially with his side carrying a three-match winning streak into the trip. Under the Stadium of Light floodlights, this has all the makings of the weekend’s trickiest fixture for one of the league’s in-form teams.

The Manchester Derby Headlines Sunday

Everything builds towards Sunday afternoon, when Manchester United host Manchester City at Old Trafford. It’s a fixture that rarely needs extra context, but this year’s version carries a sharper edge. United have struggled to turn a promising start into results, and patience around Michael Carrick’s side is not unlimited. Bruno Fernandes has been the one constant, breaking the club’s Premier League assist record last season and carrying that form into this campaign with a hat-trick already against Ipswich.

City, still adjusting to life after Pep Guardiola, have found their footing largely through Erling Haaland, who has scored in each of the opening three rounds. Haaland’s record against United is one of the more intimidating numbers in the Premier League right now, and City will lean heavily on him to settle an away derby that has swung wildly in both directions over the years. Kick-off is 4:30pm UK time, and it’s fair to say very little else happening across the football weekend will get more attention.

Sunday’s early game sends newly promoted Coventry City up against Brighton & Hove Albion, a fixture with less fanfare but plenty riding on it for a Coventry side eager to prove their promotion wasn’t a fluke.

Monday Night Closes Out the Round

Leeds United host Newcastle United on Monday evening in the final fixture of Matchweek 4, giving both sides a full day to watch how their rivals fared over the weekend before kicking off themselves. Leeds have shown genuine improvement since returning to the top flight, while Newcastle will be keen to build on any momentum picked up earlier in the week. It’s the kind of fixture that often flies under the radar but tends to matter more than expected by the time the table settles later in the season.

How to Watch Premier League Matchweek 4

Coverage varies depending on where you’re watching from, but the round is well spread across the major broadcasters. In the United Kingdom, Sky Sports and TNT Sports carry the bulk of the selected games, with the BBC handling build-up and highlights. In the United States, Peacock, NBC, and USA Network split the fixtures, with the Manchester Derby among the marquee Peacock offerings for the weekend. For fans in Nigeria and across much of Africa, SuperSport continues to be the go-to destination, with games available through DStv, GOtv, and the DStv Stream app for those following along on mobile.

Whichever way you’re watching, Matchweek 4 has enough storylines, and enough goals waiting to happen, to justify clearing a spot on the schedule from Saturday afternoon right through to Monday night.
