BBNaija’s Nomy: Inside her controversial exit & the trauma she says followed in fresh reveal
SHARE

Former Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Whitney Nneoma Chukwu, popularly known as Nomy, has opened up about her controversial exit from the reality show, describing her time in the house as an experience that left her traumatised.

Nomy discussed her experience during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on WithChude, where she reflected on the events that led to her disqualification, her relationship with the other housemates and how she viewed herself within the competition.

While Big Brother cited her repeated defiance of instructions as the reason for revoking her participation, Nomy maintains that she was unfairly removed from the show.
Her comments offer a different perspective on one of the most talked-about exits from the 2026 edition of BBNaija, tagged Show Ya Sef.

Nomy’s BBNaija Journey Ends Abruptly

BBNaija’s Nomy

Nomy’s time in the BBNaija house came to an end on September 7, 2026, after Big Brother revoked her participation privilege over what he described as repeated defiance of his instructions.
The incident that led to her removal was connected to the Benchwarmer punishment.

Following a Head of House challenge, Nomy had been assigned the role of Benchwarmer and instructed to remain on a designated bench while wearing a vest. However, Big Brother later confronted her after she left the bench and abandoned the vest.

“Why have you left your bench and vest behind, what’s your intention?” Big Brother asked.

The incident came after Nomy had already been warned about her conduct in the house.

On August 9, she received a strike for repeatedly failing to follow Big Brother’s instructions. At the time, Big Brother described the strike as her “last and final warning.”
When the Benchwarmer incident occurred weeks later, Big Brother referred to her previous warning before announcing that her participation privilege had been revoked.

Nomy was then given 30 minutes to pack her belongings and leave the house. The decision immediately ended her run in the competition and ruled her out of the season’s ₦160 million prize package.

Why Nomy Says She Was Unjustly Disqualified

Looking back at the circumstances of her exit, Nomy offered a different interpretation of what happened.
She argued that the usual process for disqualification involved accumulating three strikes, while she had received only one. She said:

“Normally, what makes people leave the house is disqualification, and to get that you need three strikes. I was on one.”

For Nomy, this made her removal different from the usual disciplinary process she understood to apply in the house. She went as far as describing her exit as unprecedented, saying it was the first time in BBNaija history that a housemate had been “revoked.”

Her comments do not change the official reason given for her removal, however. Big Brother’s announcement specifically cited her repeated defiance of instructions, rather than simply the number of strikes she had accumulated.
That difference between how Big Brother viewed her conduct and how Nomy understood her punishment became central to her account after leaving the show.

Big Brother House Experience Traumatic

BBNaija’s Nomy

Beyond the argument over her disqualification, Nomy said the experience itself affected her deeply. Speaking about her time in the house, she said:

“My experiences in the Big Brother house traumatised me.”

Her comments suggest that her frustration went beyond the punishment that ended her participation. She described the house as an unfriendly environment and said she felt as though she was operating in a space where she could not fully be herself. In her words:

“I was in the enemy territory.”

Nomy also acknowledged the way viewers may have perceived her during the season.

“I’m a bit of a rebel. I can’t lie,” she said, explaining that she entered the show focused on surviving the competition and staying until the end rather than building friendships. She was also comfortable with the possibility of being seen as the season’s villain.

“And even with being the villain, I’m still the main character. So I’ll take it,” she said.

To Win, Not Make Friends

Nomy’s comments also provide some context for the personality she displayed during her short stay. According to her, she did not enter BBNaija with the primary goal of making friends or changing herself to fit into the environment. She said:

“I wasn’t necessarily there to make friends, to be honest. I came with the mindset to win, right? Or to be there till the end.”

That mindset may help explain some of the clashes that defined her time in the house.

Rather than seeing her rebellious behaviour as something she needed to correct, Nomy presented it as part of who she was. She said she did not want to change her personality simply because she was in the Big Brother house. Her approach, however, repeatedly brought her into conflict with Big Brother’s instructions and ultimately contributed to the circumstances surrounding her removal.

Nomy Doesn’t Know Peller Or GehGeh

Peller | GehGeh

The interview also produced another unexpected moment when Chude asked Nomy about two popular Nigerian internet personalities, Peller and GehGeh. Nomy said she had never heard of either of them before entering the BBNaija house.

“I don’t know who GehGeh or Peller are, never heard of them before,” she said.

The response surprised Chude, who described Peller as a “national icon” and GehGeh as “our national lecturer”.
For Nomy, however, their popularity was apparently not something she was familiar with before joining the reality show.

Her comments further reflected the fact that she entered the BBNaija house with a focus on her own experience rather than Nigeria’s wider social media culture.

A Short BBNaija Journey But Highly Talked About

BBNaija’s Nomy

Nomy entered the Show Ya Sef house as part of the Season 11 cast, which premiered on July 26, 2026. The season featured 24 housemates and was hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, with a ₦160 million prize package at stake.
Her stay lasted only a little over a month, but she quickly became one of the season’s more talked-about housemates because of her outspoken personality and repeated disagreements over house rules.

Her disqualification on September 7 brought that journey to an abrupt end. Rather than quietly moving on from the controversy, however, Nomy has now used her conversation with Chude to explain how she experienced the events from her own perspective.

Conclusion

Nomy’s post-BBNaija account presents two sides of the same controversial exit. From Big Brother’s perspective, her participation was revoked because of repeated defiance after previous warnings, including the strike she received on August 9. From Nomy’s perspective, she was removed despite having only one strike and believes her experience did not follow the usual pattern of disqualification.

For a housemate whose BBNaija journey ended suddenly on September 7, Nomy has used the opportunity to tell her side of the story and explain what she says the experience really felt like from inside the house.
