An enraged housewife, Okiemute Dafe allegedly hacked her husband to death with a machete after arrival from a sleep over outside the matrimonial home.

The sad incident happened on Kulup Street, off Ekrejegbo in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

According to sources, trouble started when the deceased, Dafe was confronted by his angry wife after sleeping outside the matrimonial home the previous night.

It was gathered that the heated argument between the couple degenerated into a physical confrontation and the suspect reportedly attacked her husband with a cutlass on the head.

The wife was said to have earlier stabbed the victim before using cutlass on him.

Dafe, also known as Best Cartel was rushed to the Ughelli Central Hospital by neighbours but he was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital.

The suspect who attempted to run away was apprehended by youths and neighbours.

It was gathered that angry mob attempted to set the wife ablaze after Dafe was pronounced dead but she was rescued by operatives from the Ughelli Police Area Command.

The angry mob, who were unsatisfied with their inability to set the suspect ablaze attempted breaking into the police station, but they were dispersed by gunshots in the air.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident said the woman had been arrested and was currently in custody undergoing interrogation.
