Heavy gunfire heard near Niger’s Presidential Palace 2 days to swearing-in ceremony
Heavy gunfire was heard near Niger’s presidential palace in the early hours of Wednesday, two days ahead of the swearing-in of president-elect Mohamed Bazoum.
According to Reuters, the heavy gunfire started around around 3 a.m. local time (0200 GMT) and lasted for around 30 minutes.
Former president Mahamane Ousmane, who lost in the runoff, has rejected the results.
According to Ousmane, the runoff election that produced Bazoum as president-elect was full of fraud.
