Gunmen attack police station, snatch AK-47 rifle in Cross River

Gunmen on Saturday attacked the Ekori Police Station in the Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River state.

It was gathered gunmen also snatched an AK-47 rifle carried by one of the policemen.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the command, Igiri Ewa, who confirmed the incident on Monday said the police were seeking information on the attack.

“Investigations are ongoing. We will issue a statement on the attack,” he said and declined to give further details.

WITHIN NIGERIA recall that in February, two police checkpoints in Calabar and Obubura were attacked by gunmen.

The gunmen killed four policemen during the attack in Calabar and stolen their rifles.
