The divisional police station located in Obosi, Idemili North LGA of Anambra has been attacked and razed by gunmen.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the gunmen also killed two police officers during the attack.

According to NAN report, the gunmen moved to the police quarters where they killed the two personnel after burning down the station.

The attack took place in the early hours of Thursday.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra command’s public relations officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident to NAN.

The police spokesman said Chris Owolabi, commissioner of police in the state, had dispatched a tactical team for on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

He said: “The tactical team led by an assistant commissioner of police was directed to have an on-the-spot assessment of the place.

“The team was equally told to possibly identify and apprehend the hoodlums that perpetrated the attack.”

Ikenga said the bodies of the two policemen had been deposited at a morgue, adding that investigation into the matter had commenced.

The Obosi incident is the second such attack on a police facility in Anambra in the past two weeks.

Recall that the gunmen had razed the zone 13 police headquarters in Ukpo during a violent attack on April 19.

According to TheCable report, the hoodlums had invaded the station and opened fire on police officers.

In March, an officer died of gunshot injuries following an attack on a police patrol team along the Nimo-Neni link road in Anaocha LGA of the state.
