A group of yet-to-identified gunmen have reportedly attacked the B Division of the Nigeria Police Divisional Station and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) secretariat on Sunday night, May 23 in Akwa, Anambra.
Reports revealed that the armed men who rode in three Hilux trucks first stormed the B Police Division where they shot sporadically into the air for over one hour before proceeding to INEC office.
As at the time of filing this report, it has not been ascertained if there was massive destruction at the government facilities or killing of any public officer.
Speaking on the incident, the police public relations officer, Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident.
The PPRO said details are still sketchy and that he would release a statement as soon as he gets full details.
Government facilities including INEC offices and police stations have been attacked by unknown gunmen in recent times.
