The abduction of some travellers by unknown gunmen on the Kaduna-Kachia road has been confirmed by the Kaduna state police command.
The attack and abduction were confirmed on Friday by the police public relations officer in the state, Mohammed Jalige.
He, however, said security operatives are yet to determine the exact number of people who were abducted.
According to him, empty vehicles were recovered from the scene, while one person was found injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
An eyewitness disclosed that the incident happened around 3pm at Makyalli area, along Kaduna-Kachia road.
The eyewitness was said to have explained that he was also plying that route when he was alerted to the incident, which occurred close to his location at the time.
The witness said he and some other commuters, who escaped the attack, spent about 40 minutes on the highway before security operatives came and cleared the road.
