Azeez Akinloye, a 20-year-old man, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command, on Saturday, for allegedly killing one Akeem Lekan with a cutlass in Ilorin.
The deceased and the suspect reportedly used cutlass on each other for reasons unknown, which claimed the life of Akeem.
Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, the Spokesman of the police command, in a statement in Ilorin on Saturday, confirmed the development.
The suspect and the deceased are both residents of Odore area, in Ilorin, the state capital.
According to Okasanmi, policemen swung into action upon the report of a case of culpable homicide at Gaa Shagari area, off Egbejila area of Ilorin and arrested Azeez Akinloye who allegedly killed Akeem with cutlass.
“Akeem was met lying in the pool of his blood,” the statement added.
” The said Azeez Akinloye, was arrested while the lifeless body of the victim was taken to the Surulere General Hospital, Ilorin, where he was confirmed dead.
“His corpse was deposited at the hospital for autopsy,” the spokesman stated.
He said the state Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, has directed an investigation into the matter.
