Comrade Olamilekan Ogunnuga, the Odogbolu Local Government Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has been abducted in Ogun State by gunmen suspected of being kidnappers.
According to reports, the young leader was kidnapped on Thursday, October 7, near the Ogere axis in the state’s Ikenne Local Government Area.
Okunnuga was alleged to be travelling back from a trip to Ibadan when he was approached by the kidnappers. His automobile had been abandoned on the side of the road.
The State Chairman of NYCN, Abduljabar Ayelaagbe, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Sunday, October 10, said Okunuga’s family members had been contacted by the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N30million before he would be released.
“Our coordinator at Odogbolu Local Government was kidnapped about two or three days ago around Ogere in Ogun State. He went to Ibadan, but on his way back, he was abducted by the kidnappers,” he said.
“That night when he was abducted, we learnt that his car was abandoned by the roadside. On Friday evening, we got information from the police that the car was intercepted while being driven by a man at Ogijo
“The man driving the car said he saw the kidnappers when they were taking away Okunuga, adding that he decided to take the car away after the kidnapping operation. That one has been arrested, according to the police. We were told that the kidnappers have contacted his family and they are demanding a ransom of N30million to secure Okunuga’s release.” he added.
