Two killed as speeding cars, motorcycles crash in Bauchi

Two people have been killed and another seriously injured in a fatal crash that happened close to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Gubi campus, on the Bauchi-Kano highway.

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that the accident which occurred on Monday around 11.30am involved two vehicles and a motorcycle as a result of over speeding.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident said that two of the four male adults who were involved in the crash lost their lives.

The FRSC boss said, “The motorcycle was trying to avoid a pothole, but he ran into the Toyota Camry which was coming in the opposite direction.

“Immediately we were informed, our men rushed to the scene for a rescue operation and within eight minutes, they took the victims to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, for treatment and confirmation.

“When they got there, two of them were certified dead by a medical doctor, while one other person sustained injuries.”

He said the corpses were deposited at the ATBUTH mortuary, while the injured was treated at the hospital.

Abdullahi said the obstructions on the road had been cleared and the vehicles handed over to the Motor Transport Department of the Nigeria Police Force, GRA Division.

He noted that two phones were recovered at the scene of the crash.
