Three suspected landgrabbers arrested for shooting six persons in Ogun community

Three suspected land grabbers who allegedly wreaked havoc and shot six persons in Igbesa area of Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Council of Gun state have been arrested by the police.

The suspects – Adewale Muyibi, Kamoru Ayodele and Taofeek Ogundele – were arrested on Monday, October 25, after allegedly invading the community with all sorts of dangerous weapons and shooting indiscriminately.

Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 27, said six members of the community sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries, the police revealed.

Oyeyemi disclosed that the swift arrival of policemen from Agbara Division at the scene, who acted on a distress call, forced the miscreants to flee, but three of them were not as lucky as others that escaped.

The police also rescued the six injured victims and took them to the hospital.

The victims were identified as; Sunday Okorie, Shoneye Akeem, Lekan Oloyede, Jimoh Musibau, Akande Oyedeji and Hamzat Idiris.

Twenty cartridges, comprising six live and 14 expended, were recovered from the suspects.

“Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation. He also directed that other fleeing members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice”, the statement revealed.

CP Bankole has consequently warned land grabbers to steer clear of the state, “as their violent activities will not be tolerated by the command under his watch”.
