Hours after arrest, Army release TASUED Students Union President, transfer others to EFCC

The President of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) Students’ Union, Sodiq Ridwan has been released on Friday by the Nigerian Army.

Recall that the union president, Sodiq Ridwan was arrested alongside other protesting students after leading a protest against men of the Nigerian army.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that the protest started few minutes after some Army personnels stopped and started searching students moving in different cars along Conoil Filling Station, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode.

Confirming the release of the union president, the NANS President, Asefon Sunday in a conversation with WITHIN NIGERIA disclosed that Sodiq Ridwan has been released and other students accused of fraud have been subsequently moved to the office of Electronic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Ibadan

“The President and other student officials who were arrested have been released. Other’s were alleged of fraud and have been moved to EFCC office at Ibadan, if truly it’s fraud, their families should face it out with the EFCC, I won’t get involved in that”.

“The purpose why I came here has been achieved and that’s the sug president and for other students they said are in for fraud, I can’t get involved”.

Speaking on the Health condition of the TasuedSu President, Asefon said he’s okay and recuperating.
