Again, commercial bus razed on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, three dead

Three persons have lost their lives hours after a petrol tanker exploded and killed five persons at the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Wednesday.

The accident was said to have occurred around Sand Crete in Ogunmakin axis of the highway in Ogun State.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that no fewer than five persons were burnt to death after a petrol-laden tanker exploded in the early hours of Wednesday along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

With the second road crash, eight persons have been burnt to death on Wednesday only.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who confirmed the accident said that “the commercial bus coming from Ibadan went up in flames when it swayed off to the other lane and collided with a Jeep coming from Lagos.”

Spokesperson of the Ogun FRSC chapter, Florence Okpe, said “A total of 17 persons were involved, comprising males and females. 14 persons were injured, including 7 male adults and 7 female adults.

“There deaths were recorded from the crash. One of them was burnt beyond recognition.”
