The federal government has threatened to sanction security agencies including heads of military and paramilitary organisations at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) over reports of extortion.

This follows the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) revelation that no fewer than six staff of various security agencies were caught on camera extorting air travelers.

Managing Director of FAAN, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu said details of indicted security officers will be forwarded to their various headquarters.

Yadudu made this known during a training powered by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) and FAAN at the international wing of MMIA on Wednesday December 8.

He also disclosed that they will be alerting the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for appropriate action.

The FAAN boss expressed worry that the action of these officers could lead to Nigeria being blacklisted by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
