Two persons have been killed and five others injured when an old mast belonging to the Nigeria Telecommunications Limited fell on them in Katsina-Ala, Benue State.

According to PUNCH, the suspected government employees were working on the mast on Wednesday when a section of it collapsed and killed two people on the spot.

The Chairman of Kastina-Ala LGA, Alfred Atera, told journalists in Makurdi that the victims were dismantling the mast when tragedy struck.

“After loosing one side of the mast, suddenly the other part collapsed. Two of them (workers) died instantly, while five others were taken to a hospital,” the council boss added.
