Police parade 51 suspects over kidnapping, rape other crimes in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has paraded five suspected kidnappers and 46 other individuals in the state for various offenses.

Rape, manslaughter, robbery, vandalism, fraud, and forgery were among the charges leveled against the suspects.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Commissioner of Police Mr Abdu Umar said that five of the 51 suspects were apprehended for kidnapping in different operations.

He explained that the accused kidnappers, Buba Iggi and Adamu Buba, were apprehended in a jungle in Askira Uba by police working with hunters after receiving a tip.

Others paraded on Friday include two suspects for rape; three for robbery, four for culpable homicide, two for vandalism, eight for inciting disturbances.

Five suspects were nabbed for possession of Indian hemp, four for extortion, 14 for theft, two for cheating, one each for fraud and forgery

Two other suspected kidnappers identified as Abdullahi Abubakar, Buje Jalo and Buba Manu were nabbed in Hawul and Gombi LGAs also with the support of hunters.

Umar further stated that two persons were rescued from the suspected kidnappers and the suspects have confessed to the crime.

He added that efforts are being intensified to arrest their fleeing accomplices.
