Three dead, one injured as 4 trucks collide on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway

Three persons have been confirmed dead and one other injured in an accident that occurred on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

The early morning multiple accidents happened inbound Lagos at DANCO area at about 5.25am on Friday.

The crash involved a MAN containerised truck with number plates T8943 LA, an unidentified HOWO truck, IVECO flat body with number plate SSU 517 XA laden with beer, and a SINO truck with number plates T8953LA, laden with granite, with nine occupants in all.

The spokesperson, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident said three males lost their lives while another male got injured during the accident.

According to Vanguard, eyewitnesses said the MAN Diesel truck driver lost control and overturned, with two other vehicles ramming into it from the rear.

The bodies were recovered and deposited at Idera Hospital, while the injured victim had been rescued before the arrival of the rescue team.

Also, the accident trucks were towed to the nearest Police station for further investigations.

While TRACE Corps commiserated with the affected families, Akinbiyi admonished motorists, particularly articulated vehicle drivers, to avoid speeding and ensure their vehicles are properly latched, in view of its attendant consequences.
