Three women have been arraigned before a Sharia Court in Gusau, Zamfara State over alleged desecration of the Holy Qur’an.

The accused persons: Rabi Bello, Hazira Bello and Hafsatu Isah, all from the Gada community of Bungudu Local Government Area of the State were reportedly brought before the Sharia court judge, Garba Sahabi Gusau.

Daily Trust reported that the suspects allegedly desecrated the Holy Qur’an by staining it with blood collected after childbirth and throwing it inside a toilet.

According to reports, the evidence tendered before the court included the stained Holy Qur’an, 77 syringes full of blood collected after childbirth, other Islamic books, a paper bearing the name of one of the suspects and other things related to the alleged crime reportedly sanctioned by a necromancer (sorcerer) identified simply as Tukur.

The prosecutor noted that the women allegedly carried out the ritual to make money.

Meanwhile, the judge adjourned the hearing of the matter to March 3.
