A tipper driver, identified simply as Justice, has allegedly committed suicide at Eagle Island, in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to PUNCH, the lifeless body of the victim was found dangling from a rope tied to a tree at the back of Octopus Sandfill Jetty, Eagle Island.

Justice was said to be a member of the Tipper Drivers Association of Nigeria, Eagle Island branch.

The South-South Chairman of the association, Prince Barifodum, who confirmed the incident, however, raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the death, as he called on the police to carry out a thorough investigation into the case.

“When there is suicide, there are things that are peculiar to such acts, so we are still requesting that the police do an investigation into what really happened,” Barifodum stated.

The state police acting spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, also confirmed the incident.

“We are aware of the incident and we have started investigation to ascertain what led to it. That is all I can say for now,” Iringe-Koko stated.
