Weapons recovered include one Ak47 rifle, G3 rifle, a locally made pistol and assorted ammunitions as well as charms.

CP Abbass disclosed that the bandits were ambushed and killed while on their way to attack a village called Gbagire in Ukum Local Government Area by his men during an operation.

He said the operation was successful because all the bandits’ calls were tracked by the intelligent unit, allowing them to carefully monitor them as they planned their attack on the village.

He said the bandits numbered over 20 and that many others ran into the nearby bushes with gun wounds.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom commended the Nigeria Police and especially the CP, Benue State command, Wale Abbas and his men, with a vow that his administration will do everything possible support them and reduce crime to its barest minimum in the state.

The corpses of the four bandits were displayed at the police headquarters in Makurdi, along with their charms and assorted weapons recovered from them.
