Four persons have died in an auto crash involving two vehicles and 10 persons on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway before the Iperu Bridge, Ogun State.

The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, Florence Okpe, who disclosed this in a statement said the accident occurred around 6.25pm on Tuesday

Okpe said two vehicles, a Mazda bus with number plate, YYY412XB, and a truck with no number plate, were affected by the accident.

She said the suspected cause of the accident was speed and light defect.

“The Mazda bus driver, who was at top speed, crashed into the moving truck from behind due to a light defect of the truck; that is, the truck rear lights made to signal vehicles from behind could not function.

“A total of 10 persons were involved, which comprised four male adults, five female adults, and one male child. The injured victims were six, comprising five female adults and one male adult.

“Unfortunately, four deaths were recorded from the crash: three male adults and one male child.

“The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at the FOS Ipara Morgue.

“The impact of the crash is not obstructing the flow of traffic and the crashed vehicles are in MTD police custody, Ogere,” she said.

The Sector Commander, FRSC, Ogun Sector Command, Ahmed Umar, advised motorists to fix their vehicles before any trip.
