Five suspected armed robbers die after a gun duel with Police in Delta

A deadly gunfight between police officers from “B” Division and five suspected armed robbers reportedly resulted in the deaths of the miscreants in Warri, Delta State.

According to report, the suspects who suffered critical gunshot wounds passed away before reaching the hospital.

The police also found two (2) cut-to-size single barrel guns made locally, three (03) live cartridges, three (03) spent cartridges, and one dagger on the suspects.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammad Ali disclosed this at a press briefing in Asaba today.

The Police boss said the Police on Aberdeen patrol along lower Erejuwa Street Warri, received a distress call that a suspected gang of armed robbers were terrorizing Igbudu market/old welfare.

According to him,”the teams acting on this information, swiftly moved to the scene, where the hoodlums on sighting the police engaged them in a gun duel, during which five of the hoodlums sustained serious gunshot injuries.”

While noting that the suspects died before getting to the hospital, CP Ali said, “Investigation is ongoing.”
