A corps member, Fasonya Shamsudeen Adejobi and four other passengers lost their lives in an auto crash at Sabon-Gari, along the Abuja-Lokoja Road.

According to Daily Trust, a witness, simply identified as Yakubu, said the accident happened around 1:08pm on Wednesday, involving an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus with registration number EPE 898 DD.

Yakubu said officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) took three other passengers who sustained injuries to the Kwali General Hospital for treatment.

He said the bus was coming from the Abuja axis at top speed amid heavy downpour when the driver lost control and crashed into the ditch.

The FCT sector commander of the FRSC, Samuel Ogar Ochi, confirmed the incident, and attributed it to speeding and poor visibility.

He said five passengers, including a corps member, died in the accident and that three others sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.

He said the late corps member was a law graduate of Ekiti State University. He said the five corpses had been deposited at the hospital morgue.
