Zamfara: Police rescue two after three weeks in captivity

Two kidnapped female victims have bee rescued by the operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command.

The Zamfara State Police Command  acted on an intelligence report and rescued the victims while on confidence-building patrol along Nya Mango in Bungudu Local Government Area.

The two female kidnapped victims were identified as 21-year-old Ubaida Hassan and 10-year-old Umaima Jamilu of Gidan Liman village in Kekun Waje district of Bungudu Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Command’s spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu, the victims, who were rescued unhurt, were abducted by terrorists on 15th July 2022 following an attack on the village.

“Victims were medically checked at General Hospital Bungudu, thereafter, debriefed by the police and handed over to their families.

“The Command, while reassuring the public of its commitment to the protection of lives and property, congratulates the victims for regaining their freedom,” Shehu said.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) further urged all and sundry to be security conscious and report suspicious characters to the police or any security agency for prompt action.
