Safiya Muhammad, a housewife has brought forward her husband, Salisu Saidu, before a Shari’a court at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, for abandoning her and their two children.

Safiya informed the court on Monday that she had to travel to Kogi State to treat an illness she had been suffering from and added that her husband failed to visit her throughout the period.

She said, “Even before I left, he used to beat me and did not take care of me and the children. I am tired, I want a divorce.”

The defendant denied abusing his wife, saying he loved her and was trying his best to cater for the family.
