A 30-year-old woman, identified as Hadiza Ayuba, has been delivered of a baby girl while waiting to collect free delivery and baby kits at the Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano state.

The heavily pregnant woman was said to be expecting her child when she arrived at the distribution ground.

The distribution exercise is part of the constituency projects of the member representing Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Federal Constituencies, Mustapha Bala Dawaki, in collaboration with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.

According to Dailly Trust, Hadiza gave birth shortly after a short lecture was delivered by the maternity nurses and community medicine personnel of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).

With the aid of seasoned and experienced matrons and nurses from AKTH, Hadiza delivered successfully and she proposed to name her newborn baby, Fatima.

It was gathered that over 1,000 pregnant and nursing mothers have received delivery and baby kits along with other domestic plastic materials from all wards of Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Areas.

Earlier, the expecting and nursing mothers had undergone a series of lectures on signs of early pregnancy, precautions, Dos and Don’ts, signs of delivery and immunization for healthy living.

Nurses Ummi Nasir Ma’aruf, Shema’u Mahmoud of the antennal department, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, cautioned pregnant mothers to be wary of delivering at home while tasking them on healthy dieting, regular intake of fruits and vegetables and observance of immunization from day one to 23 months of birth.

Male parents are also urged to help pregnant and nursing mothers in their quest to raise healthy children.
