Gunmen attacked and wounded about three policemen at the Abia State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, headquarters, located at Uzuakoli Road.
It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the CID headquarters on Wednesday night, though details of the invasion are still sketchy at the time of filing this report.
According to Vanguard, a source said one of the police officer was matched by the invaders while two were shot.
The victims were said to have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
There were also fears that the armoury of the station might have been raided by the attackers.
Efforts to confirm the attack were unsuccessful as the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna did not pick up calls put across to him, Vanguard reports.
The facility was sometime last year invaded by unknown gunmen who burnt part of the premises after freeing the inmates.
