One Haruna Mohammed has been apprehended for allegedly raping and impregnating a 13-year-old girl at the Line Kaji Street of Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.

The 20-year old was arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command.

The agency also said it has apprehended two other suspects for allegedly raping and defiling another 13-year-old girl, Ramatu Dahiru in the state.

While parading the suspects at NSCDC headquarters in Lafia, the State Commandant, Abbas Bappa-Muhammed who spoke through the Public Relations Officer, DSC Jerry Victor, said the suspects were arrested at different locations in the state.

He said, “The suspects; Haruna Abdullahi, 39, hails from Tudun Kofa in Lafia and Dauda Muhammed, 35, also hails from Dawakin Local Government area of Kano state, but resides in Tudun Kofa, Lafia Nasarawa state, confessed to having raped Ramatu Dahiru, 13-year-old at his house, in Tudun Kofa Lafia.”

The PRO further noted that the suspect Dauda Mohammed who raped the teenager is a friend of the victim’s father.

Narrating her ordeal in an interview with Daily Trust, the victim, Ramatu Dahiru, said Dauda Mohammed called her to his place with the thought that he wanted to send her on an errand.

“I felt relaxed because Dauda Mohammed is a friend to my father. If I had known that he has a devilish plan towards me I wouldn’t have gone there,” the victim lamented.
The PRO of the command said all the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
He also called on parents and guidance to always monitor the movement of their children and wards, as he urged the citizens of the state to be security conscious, and report any suspicious movement in and around their vicinity, to any Security agencies closer to them.

In an interview with our correspondent shortly after he was paraded, the suspect confessed to having committed the act, promising to marry the underage girl.
