Days after being killed, the body of a kidnapped Nigerian government official named Shamsideen Abayomi Alamu is still missing.

He served as the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation’s Assistant Chief Surveyor (OSGoF).

While travelling from Iwo to Abuja after attending a wedding ceremony, Abayomi was kidnapped on October 3 near Yakwo Farms in Abaji.

The late official was taken along with his mother and 7-year-old son, according to OSGoF’s Abu Michael, Head of Press.

The attackers came out of the bushes and fired at the group of three while they were in a Toyota Corolla with the licence plate RSH 661NY.

According to Michael, Abayomi was killed on October 6 while his mother and son were released the following day.

The spokesperson let the public know that there were search efforts underway in a statement on Tuesday.

“On receiving the news of his abduction, the Surveyor General of the Federation, Abudulganiyu Adebomehin and his management team swooped into action.

“The Office reliably gathered that he was killed on Thursday before the release of his mother and son on Friday through the intervention of family members, friends and other relatives.”

Michael added that security agencies were working towards recovering Abayomi’s remains and urged cirizens to provide useful information to the police.

The OSGoF regrets the loss of the 2021 Head of Civil Service Award Winner and a “mapping maestro” of its Photogrammetry and Remote-Sensing Department.

After her release, the mother, Alhaja Afusat Alamu revealed that the gunmen demanded N50million but only N2.35million was raised which the captors collected.

Abayomi, an indigene of Iwo in Osun State, was recruited into the Federal Civil Service on December 9, 2013.
