Gunmen kidnap Enugu tricycle rider for filming abduction operation

A tricycle operator has been kidnapped by gunmen for allegedly videoing their kidnap operation at Onugwu Market Square, Ibeagwa in the Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday, at about 6pm.

The gunmen also kidnapped two other people including one Pele who was said to be an in-law to the immediate past Chairman of Enugu East Council Area, Chief Alex Ugwu.

According to SaharaReporters , sources from the community said Pele was trailed to the market where he was blocked and whisked away by the gunmen.

The hoodlums while they were making their escape, also stopped over on the Ugwogo/Opi express road and robbed a fuel station, shooting the manager in the process.

The former Council Chairman, Chief Ugwu, confirmed the incident.

The traditional ruler of the Ibeagwa community, His Royal Majesty Igwe Emmanuel Ugwu, who also confirmed the incident, described it as grave threat to the peace in the community.

The state police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, could not be reached to comment on the incident as he could not answer his calls as at the time of filling this report.
