Bandits have abducted the wife and four children of a member, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Aminu Ardo Jangebe.

It was gathered that the gunmen also abducted the lawmaker’s two neighbours, Alhaji Yahaya and Sa,adu Mainama.

According to PUNCH, an indigene of the town, Sani Abubakar, via phone call said the bandits arrived the town around 11 o’clock pm on Thursday and began to shoot sporadically to scare away people.

Abubakar explained that many people took to their heels on hearing the gunshots, while others shut their doors to avoid abduction.

He said the bandits went straight to the residence of Aminu Ardo where they broke the gate to gain entry.

“Immediately the bandits entered into the house, they abducted the wife of the Honourable member and his four children.

“As they were coming out of the house, they spotted two of his neighbours, MalamYahaya and Sa,adu Mainama who they also abducted,” he said.

Abubakar said the bandits also took away a motorcycle belonging to one of the abducted persons.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, confirmed the incident to BBC Hausa.

Contacted for comment on the issue, the state police spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu, said “I will get more details”.

However, Shehu did not respond up to the time of filing this report.
