Police rescue four kidnapped victims, arrested 17 suspects in Kano

The police in Kano State said they have rescued four victims of different kidnapping incidents and arrested 17 suspects.

Spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, stated this in a statement.

He said the suspects were arrested in three different kidnapping incidents within 30 days due to sustaining efforts in fighting all forms of crime and criminality by the Kano State Police Command.

According to him, the first incident occurred on the 10th November 2022 at about 1500hrs when a commercial driver, while on transit from Funtua LGA, Katsina State, to Kebbi State, was kidnapped by unknown hoodlums and kept under captivity for 12 days; he was eventually released after a ransom was paid.

The suspect was arrested at Rijiyar Zaki Motor Park, Kano State, boarding a commercial vehicle heading to Faskari town.

“Other incidents are on 13/11/2022 at about 1120hrs, while acting on credible information two more suspects arrested along Kano-Katsina border, Rogo LGA, Kano State in possession of Four (4) Locally made fabricated Guns concealed in a Sack intending to cross the border to Katsina State.

“Nine (9) more suspects were also arrested on 22nd November 2022at about 1400hrs, after a staff of Ayman Agricultural Company one Jamilu Bello, and one (1) other person were held hostage at their excavation Site, Sabon Garin Danbagina village Kano State by some villagers,” he said.

SP Kiyawa said an investigation is in progress, and efforts to arrest more culprits are ongoing.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Dauda, however, urged the general public to support security agencies with any meaningful information to help arrest criminals in the state.
