Suspected criminals arrested for trailing bank customers and carting away their cash in Sokoto

Two suspected criminals who specialize in trailing bank customers after withdrawing cash and carting away their money have been arrested by the police in Sokoto State.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, who made this known in a statement said there have been reported cases of bank customers being trailed after cash withdrawals by some criminals and stealing the money especially as this festive period fast approaches.

Abubakar stated that it was on the above premise that the police Command escalated its efforts and arrested a syndicate of criminals at Usman Danfodio University Teaching hospital who trailed one of the bank customers from one of the first-generation bank to the point of parking his Honda Accord car at UDUS while both attempted to unlock it in a compromising manner with some tools.

“The arrested suspects are: Chubuke Obaduke and Efeanyi Odu all of Ogbuta LGA of Imo State. During police investigation both suspects explained how they were able to trail down the vehicle owner from one of the bank in Sokoto metropolis were he withdrew the sum of #750,000 cash and kept it inside his car.” the statement read in part

The PPRO added that in addition, efforts are being made to arrest other conspirators especially those that provide accommodation to the criminal and by extension benefit from their loots.

He said the arrested suspects have been profiled and will be charged to court on completion of the investigation.
