Two siblings, aged three and six, burnt to death by a mysterious fire in Udo Imuk, Eket Local Lovernment Area of Akwa Ibom State.

It was gathered that the tragic incident occurred at about 7pm on Friday after their parents, who went out, locked the kids in their one-room apartment.

The father went to a nearby health centre for an injection while the mother went out earlier for shopping.

According to The Nation, neighbours said they had no idea that the kids were inside the room when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire was a mystery because there were no electrical connections, candle or gas cylinder in the room.

The father Prince Ekpo, said: “I left the phone torch on in the room for the children, hoping to return soon after an injection.

“My wife earlier went out to buy something.

“I came back and saw people crowded and discovered my two children were burnt to death and we don’t know the source of the fire.”
