Gunmen kill vigilante, injure two others in Anambra

Gunmen killed a vigilante and injured two others after invading a local vigilance outfit in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that the assailants stormed the security office on Wednesday and shot three officers on duty.

According to PUNCH, a witness said the gunmen set fire to the building as they engaged the security operatives in a gun battle.

The state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

Ikenga said, “Our operatives recovered unexploded explosives and other incriminating items. But unfortunately, three local vigilantes were shot when they engaged the assailants during the attack.

“While two are currently responding to treatment, one person was confirmed dead by a doctor.”
