CAN condemns murder of Catholic priest in Niger

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger has condemned the killing of a Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi, in Paikoro Local Government Area of the state.

Achi was burnt to death on Sunday when gunmen attacked his residence in Kafin-Koro, Paikoro LGA of Niger.

The state CAN Chairman, Most Rev Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, in his reaction signed by his media aide, Daniel Atori, condemned the dastard act.

He called for investigations into the attacks and the culprits brought to book.

The CAN Chairman while condoling with the catholic diocese of Minna, Parishioners and the entire Christian community in the state as well as the immediate family of the deceased priest, prayed for the repose soul of Rev. Fr Achi and souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.

“Enough of the attacks and wanton killings of innocent Nigeria citizens. One of the primary responsibilities of the government is to protect the lives and property of the people you govern,” part of the statement read.

The CAN chairman therefore called on the government, the Police and other security agencies to double their efforts in tackling Banditry and insecurity.
