Uber driver killed while evading robbery scene in Abuja

Suspected armed robbers have killed an Uber driver identified as Afam in Kubwa, a satellite town in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

According to Daily Trust, a source said that the incident happened close to AJ lounge near the NNPC junction in Kubwa.

The source said the victim sold electronics but work as an Uber driver at night.

“The guy went to AJ lounge. Beside AJ lounge, there is a place where they sell phones, he was inside his car. So, he noticed that there was a group of men, up to five in number with guns and weapons, trying to break into the shop where they sell phones,” the source explained.

“I don’t really know what he was doing there, but he is into Uber. So, when he noticed the people were trying to burgle the shop, he tried to start his car to run away, then they noticed the movement.

“Possibly, they thought he was trying to video or call the police then they shot. Those clubbing in the AJ lounge heard the gunshot and came out. The criminals ran away afterwards.

“Afam was rushed to the hospital but confirmed dead on arrival. I don’t know if the matter was reported to the police,” the source added.
