A man, Arepamowei Koru, has been arrested by the police for allegedly beating his 22-year-old girlfriend, Miss Toma Angolo, to death in Ogobiri Community, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The two lovers were said to be cohabiting in the community before the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, residents of the community said that the lovers have been staying together without any noticeable quarrel before their minor disagreement on Tuesday led to a fight.
Residents said the man might have hit her hard, resulting in her bleeding to death.
NAN learnt that Koru was arrested after the deceased’s elder sister, who held the suspect alerted the police at Amassoma Division
The deceased father, Mr ServeGod Angolo, had rushed her to the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, but she gave up the ghost before they could reach the hospital.
The state police spokesman , SP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident said the suspect has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department
