Officers of the Department of State Services, DSS, have rescued a housewife, Mrs Tosin Kayode, and her child, who were abducted in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

It was gathered that the housewife and her son were rescued in Ibadan, Oyo State after their abductors abandoned them and fled.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the woman and her child were kidnapped by gunmen around 6 pm on Tuesday while they were going home from her shop in the Ota Efun area, Osogbo, Osun State.

The hoodlums were said to have contacted the woman’s husband and demanded a ransom of N5m.

According to PUNCH, a source close to the family, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victims were rescued by DSS on Thursday.

The source also said no ransom was paid.

“DSS intelligence located where they were kept in Ibadan and the operatives moved in to rescue them. They were rescued on Thursday and reunited with their family,” the source added.

Dr Sunday Adeoye, the Senior Pastor of the Union Baptist Church, Odi-Olowo, Osogbo, where the victims worship, confirmed the release of the victims in a statement issued by the church’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Oluwamayowa Fagbohungbe.

The church commended security agents, members of the church and journalists for coming to the aid of the family.
