Five miners killed, others injured as bandits attack Kaduna community

Bandits wreaking havoc in the North Western part of the country have attack a mining site in Hayin Udawa community, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing five miners

The bandits stormed the mining site on Thursday afternoon where the victims were working, a local, who spoke in confidence with newsmen, disclosed.

“Five of our local miners were killed on Wednesday while working in the bush. They were all from Udawa town.” Daily Post quoted the source as saying.

He added that others sustained gunshot injuries.

He stated that where the attack took place was not far from where bandits ambushed the personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), killing seven, as well as six miners a few weeks ago.

The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige, have not reacted to the development.
