One confirmed dead in Third Mainland Bridge auto crash

A male adult who has yet to be identified has been confirmed dead, with one other person injured, after three vehicles collided on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.

The accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, near the UNILAG Waterfront end of the bridge.

A Ford bus transporting food from Mile 12 into Lagos Island, a Toyota Camry, and an OPEL car were all involved in the multiple accidents.

Taofiq Adebayo, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, confirmed the incident.

He said the Toyota Camry had a tyre burst while in motion, thereby colliding with the two other vehicles.

“The other person sustained severe injuries and had been taken to the hospital.

“LASTMA Officials and policemen from Oworonsoki police station are also on the ground to manage the traffic situation,” he added.
